18 SEPTEMBER 2015 – UNITED CAPS WELL RECEIVED BY INTERNATIONAL PRESS

25 journalists from around the world, representing some of the industry’s most recognised on-line and print publications, as well as general media, joined us on 17 September in Hoboken, Belgium, to hear our industry-changing announcement and discover how our company is expanding its horizons.

Our new name and logo were very well received by everyone present. UNITED CAPS’s CEO Benoît Henckes outlined our new robust strategy for growth and explained how it will support UNITED CAPS’s ambition of becoming the industry reference in the plastic caps and closures business, close to customers. He also revealed the initiatives and activities that will help us achieve these goals.

Recently appointed Chief Innovation and Coaching Officer Philippe Thivet wowed the audience with some examples of UNITED CAPS’s vast innovative capabilities and product-defining solutions. He also described our unique approach to innovation and co-creating with customers and other partners.

Journalists then had the unique opportunity to see how UNITED CAPS’s highly-performant, reliable closures are manufactured during a tour of the company’s recently modernised and expanded Hoboken plant.

SEPT 2015 - PROCAP BECOMES UNITED CAPS

With a new growth strategy, the company strives for even greater innovation excellence and increased customer proximity to help it achieve its aim of becoming the industry reference for plastic caps and closures for customers globally.

The official announcement of the new name and strategy was made at an international invitation-only press event at one of the company’s recently refurbished and extended manufacturing facilities in Hoboken, Belgium.

“Our move to becoming UNITED CAPS sets our direction for the future. It’s the beginning of the path to expanding our horizons. It represents our efforts to truly unite all the companies we’ve brought together. To create one culture, one DNA across the global group. We intend to partner with customers wherever they need us. Customer relationship management will be a central focus point – along with managing our portfolio, making operational efficiency gains and managing our innovation pipeline. We’ll be looking to increase the number of global accounts we already serve and grow the segments we’re active in. UNITED CAPS obtained its current UN certification based on tests of a 5L HDPE and Co-ex AgriChem containers sporting the 63mm PROCURVE closure solution. At UN level 3H1/Y1.4/130 with H²O (water) the closure demonstrated screwing torque below 6.0Nm when initially screwed following filling. Torque this low makes it very easy for the end user to open manually.

Looking to meet extremely strict quality requirements for cans of infant milk powder, particularly in Singapore, Abbott Nutrition turned to UNITED CAPS. Our highly performant 127 GREENCAP for cans made of tin and aluminium provide the ideal cap. Lighter in weight, these caps also represent a more environmentally-friendly solution.

In need of a unique, ergonomic closure for its bottles of mineral water that could be delivered within a short timeframe, Wattwiller approached UNITED CAPS. The petal-flower design of our bespoke 1881 closure is not only eye-catching, but allows end users to open bottles with very little effort. Given its success in the market, the SPADEL Group, that owns Wattwiller, is looking to develop other similarly exceptional closures for different containers in the future.

That’s why chemical company BASF chose them for the ECO range of coex containers of agro chemicals. Our advanced solution offers notable improvements in line performance. PROSLIT demonstrates UNITED CAPS’s extensive capacity for devising superior solutions for existing applications and makes us the number one supplier of such products to BASF.

NESTLÉ CONFIDENT OF CONTINUITY WITH UNITED CAPS

UNITED CAPS is supplying Nestlé, the world's leading nutrition, health and wellness company, with a unique 40mm tamper evident screw cap specifically for HDPE bottles containing liquid food. The use of HDPE replaces traditional glass bottles. The caps are supplied to Nestlé’s Biessenhofen facility, the company’s second largest factory in Germany. The high quality of our R&D capabilities offered Nestlé the necessary confidence to entrust this important project to us. Our good client relationship and clear communication also supported Nestlé’s choice of supplier to assure the continuity of the endeavour.

Requiring a closure for a new specific design of glass bottle, Coty, global beauty and fragrance manufacturer, asked its already trusted supplier UNITED CAPS to devise an optimal solution. The Astor nail polish brand now features a premium UNITED CAPS closure (BV0133B, PPHH). The solution confirmed Coty’s faith in UNITED CAPS as the ideal partner for new projects. It also helps us further our position as a prominent supplier for premium cosmetics brands.
