UNITED CAPS has achieved yet another milestone! Building on the 2023 triumph of BUMP CAP, which won the SAVE FOOD DESIGN AWARD, we’ve once again taken Gold at the Shanghai World of Packaging (swop) Sustainability Design Competition. This year, the honour goes to KINDCAP—a ground-breaking lightweight closure for infant milk powder cans, showcasing our commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Hosted by the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) in partnership with the FAO and UNIDO, the competition celebrates innovations that balance sustainability and performance. KINDCAP stood out for its ultra-lightweight design that delivers top-tier functionality while reducing environmental impact.

New Sustainability Status Report For 2024 Available Now!

UNITED CAPS has released its updated Sustainability Status Report for 2024, highlighting the company's ongoing efforts toward a net-zero carbon footprint and a circular economy for plastics. The report covers our progress and commitment to using 100% renewable feedstocks or recycled plastic, powered entirely by green energy. It also underscores our dedication to a happy, secure workforce operating in a net zero environment.

Notably, the carbon footprint of our caps from Cradle to Factory Gate is now more than 15% lower than in 2020, thanks to the adoption of zero carbon electricity at all UNITED CAPS plants..

UNITED CAPS Secures Prestigious GOLD at SAVE FOOD DESIGN Awards for BUMP CAP

UNITED CAPS, has triumphed at the Inaugural SAVE FOOD DESIGN AWARDS, securing the GOLD accolade for their inventive BUMP CAP. The ceremony, hosted during the Shanghai World of Packaging event, recognized the BUMP CAP as a significant innovation with the potential to dramatically impact global food waste.

Astrid Hoffmann-Leist, who serves in the dual capacity of Chief Innovation and Communication Officer and Business Director (APAC) at UNITED CAPS, collected the award, and noted how this recognition for BUMP CAP which is a collaboration with Mimica, underscores the company's dedication to their "BETTER UNITED" ethos. Speaking at the event Mrs Hoffmann-Leist said “We are proud to have received this prestigious inaugural award. As closure experts, we are in a unique position to develop very ambitious and complex closures and our ability to work with others to help solve some of the world’s biggest challenges is what it means to be BETTER UNITED. The BUMP CAP, developed in collaboration with MIMICA, offers a fresh take on what a cap can do. It features a patented gel technology that eclipses the reliability of traditional 'best before' dates by providing a tactile freshness indicator, thus extending the shelf life of perishable goods and contributing to a reduction in global food waste.

This award highlights UNITED CAPS' drive to innovate and their steadfast belief in the power of collaboration to forge a better future.
